I read Teaching Brevity in an effort to break the old habits of an English major. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but right now the bloggers sound either mentally challenged or pretentiously provocative. The most powerful blog read was A Rationale for Educational Blogging. New literacies that are constantly changing as new technologies emerge…fascinating.
Thing 2: Web 2.0 Tools

The use of Web 2.0 tools marks the beginning of a new era for education. It’s already established in the world. Students use them regularly in their life to interact, communicate, gather information, etc. They are beyond “tech-savvy”. Using tools such as these are the natural basics for them. The education profession must employ these changing techniques in order to connect with them. I think there will be a disconnect until those who have grown up using technology in all areas of their life actually enter the teaching profession themselves.
I am curious about one thing, though…What will happen to the large portion of the American population who can’t afford computers? Having computers available at school and in public libraries is not enough.
